Welcome to Trezor.io/start – your starting point for setting up a Trezor hardware wallet! This guide will walk you through the simple steps to secure your cryptocurrency using one of the most trusted devices in the world. Whether you’re new to Trezor or setting up a new device, this guide will make sure you’re on the right track.
A Trezor hardware wallet keeps your cryptocurrency safe by storing your private keys offline, away from online threats. It’s like having a digital safe that you can carry with you. Trezor offers two models:
Trezor Model One: Affordable and user-friendly, with support for most popular cryptocurrencies.
Trezor Model T: Advanced, featuring a touchscreen and support for a wide range of cryptocurrencies.

To start setting up your Trezor, open your browser and go to Trezor.io/start. This page has all the resources you need, including a link to download Trezor Suite – the official Trezor app for managing your wallet.
Trezor Suite is a desktop application designed to make managing your crypto easy and secure. It’s compatible with Windows, macOS, and Linux. You can also use the web version if you prefer, but the desktop version offers enhanced security.
Download Trezor Suite from the Trezor website.
Install the app and open it to start the setup.
Plug your Trezor into your computer using the USB cable provided.
Open the Trezor Suite, and it will recognize your device and guide you through the initial setup steps.
If your Trezor device doesn’t have firmware installed, Trezor Suite will prompt you to download the latest version. Firmware is what allows your device to function securely.
Follow the prompts to complete the firmware installation.
When finished, you may be asked to unplug and reconnect your Trezor device.
With the firmware in place, you’ll be prompted to create a new wallet or recover an existing one.
Create a New Wallet: If this is your first time setting up a wallet, select this option.
Important: Trezor will display a recovery seed – a series of 12, 18, or 24 words. This seed is your backup. Write it down carefully on the card provided and store it in a safe place.
🛑 Tip: Never share your recovery seed with anyone. It’s the only way to recover your wallet if your Trezor is lost or damaged.
To protect your wallet, set up a PIN on your Trezor. This adds a layer of security, so only you can access your wallet. Choose a PIN that’s hard to guess, and remember it – you’ll need it each time you use your Trezor.
Optional Step: You can add an extra layer of protection with a passphrase. This advanced option is recommended for users familiar with extra security layers.
Trezor Suite lets you add accounts for different cryptocurrencies. Trezor supports Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, and many other coins and tokens.
Open the “Accounts” section in Trezor Suite.
Add accounts for the coins you want to store on your device.
Now that your Trezor is set up, you can start managing your cryptocurrency safely. With Trezor Suite, you can:
Send and receive crypto securely.
Monitor your portfolio and see real-time values for each asset.
Review transactions on your Trezor screen to ensure security.
Tip: Always verify addresses and transaction details on your Trezor device’s screen before confirming them.
Backup Your Recovery Seed: Keep it in a safe location and never share it online.
Regularly Update Firmware: Trezor frequently releases updates to protect against new threats.
Avoid Phishing Attacks: Only use the official Trezor Suite app and be cautious of emails or websites asking for your PIN or recovery seed.
